A.R.K. Project

The A.R.K. Project is a tradition that the Kappa Theta chapter started in 2003 in memory of one of our sisters, Ashley Ryan Krueger, who was killed in an automobile crash in the Spring of 2003. Her memory and very presence still lives on through our sisters and her friends here at Virginia Tech.

Delta Zeta  joined forces with Sigma Phi Epsilon in order to make the campaign campus-wide, as well as Greek-wide. Ashley was a Goldenheart and a dear friend of the Sigma Phi Epsilon brothers. Together we are spreading the word about seatbelt use and its importance. We want to reach out to the Tech community and impact people with this campaign and to remind everyone that wearing a safety belt is not only important for your safety, but also to those who love you. For everyone who has lost a loved one, we encourage you to support this cause

and please remember to Buckle Up and drive safely. If not for you, then for someone you love.

Play for Patrick

Patrick Day, a local Blacksburg High School student, was striken by a stroke in his spinal cord in August 2007.

In an attempt to help Patrick and his family, our chapter nominated Patrick for the Dodge Grablife Givelife campaign. Grablife Givelife gives philanthropies all across the nation the opportunity to win up to $20,000 towards their cause by reaching the goal of 20,000 votes first. With the help of the Blackburg community and Delta Zeta chapters all over the country, we obtained 20,000 votes within two weeks! On November 15, 2007 we proudly presented Patrick's family with a check for $20,000 to help with his enormous medical expenses. We will continue to extend our support to Patrick throughout his recovery.

The Gallaudet University for the Speech and Hearing Impaired

Delta Zeta's involvement in speech and hearing has a long and rich history. Since 1954, Delta Zeta Sorority has shared a partnership with Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., the world's only university with undergraduate programs accessible to hearing-impaired students. Delta Zeta endowed the Delta Zeta Scholarship Fund and the Fine Arts Endowment Fund. Delta Zeta scholarships are awarded annually to Gallaudet University students.  In 1995, the Delta Zeta Dance Studio was dedicated on the Gallaudet campus.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation

The Starkey Hearing Foundation provides more than 20,000 hearing aids through more than 150 hearing missions annually in countries all over the world.  Delta Zeta chapters assist The Starkey Hearing Foundation's "Hear Now" program by collecting refurbished hearing aids to be distributed to underprivileged areas

in the U.S. and around the world.

The Painted Turtle Camp

Delta Zeta is a proud partner with The Painted Turtle Camp; which is part of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children with life-threatening illnesses. The camp provides life-changing experiences to children whose daily struggles often diminish both their desire to be well and to lead a rich, productive life. Delta Zeta is the first sorority to partner with The Painted Turtle as a part of our national philanthropic efforts.
